Home Renovation in Coquitlam
Jordan Lane General Contracting brings its North Shore renovation work east to Coquitlam. We renovate whole homes, kitchens and bathrooms across the city, from the older streets of Maillardville and Austin Heights to the hillside neighbourhoods of Westwood Plateau and Burke Mountain.
A lot of Coquitlam's family homes were built in the 1980s and 1990s, and they are now at the age where the original kitchen, bathrooms, flooring and finishes all need replacing together. That is the kind of project we plan and run start to finish as a licensed, insured general contractor and HAVAN Award winner.
A Finished Interior Like the Ones Coquitlam Owners Ask For
Our Parkway Drive project is a good example of the interior renovation Coquitlam homeowners most often ask us about. The living and dining rooms were refinished as one connected space, the staircase was updated so it suits the rest of the house, a powder room was finished with a wallpaper feature, and the bathroom was rebuilt around a walk in shower.
These photos are from Parkway Drive. We show them as an example of our finished standard, not as a Coquitlam project, because they show the finished standard you can expect when we take on a family home of a similar age here. You can see the complete project and our other work in the gallery.

What We Renovate in Coquitlam
Coquitlam owners usually come to us with one of two jobs. The first is a dated family home where everything inside is due at once. The second is a single room, most often a kitchen or an ensuite, in a house that is otherwise in good shape.
We take on both. On the bigger jobs, doing the work in one project keeps the finishes consistent and avoids opening the same walls twice.

Bathroom renovationsCoquitlam Houses and What They Need
On Westwood Plateau and Burke Mountain the lots are often sloped, with houses that have a walkout lower floor and tall great rooms on the main. Those layouts are good bones for a renovation, but the high ceilings, two storey windows and open stairwells need scaffolding and planning that a flat lot does not. The builder grade finishes from the 1990s, such as oak kitchens, almond fixtures and carpeted stairs, are what most owners want gone.
Closer to the Lougheed Highway, in Maillardville, Austin Heights and Central Coquitlam, the houses are older and smaller, and the work leans toward opening up closed kitchens, adding bathrooms and upgrading electrical. Building permits go through the City of Coquitlam, and we confirm early whether your scope needs one so the start date is realistic.

Coquitlam Renovation Costs
Renovation cost in Coquitlam depends on what the house already has and what you want to change. A kitchen that stays in the same footprint costs far less than one that takes out a wall and moves the sink to an island. A great room with a two storey ceiling needs scaffolding for painting and lighting that a standard room does not.
We give an itemised quote with finish allowances after a visit, and price any change before it is built. These are the items that most often decide the budget on Coquitlam homes.
- Removing walls to open the kitchen to the family room
- High ceilings and stairwells that need scaffolding
- Replacing flooring and stairs through the whole house
- Cabinet, counter and tile selections
- Moving plumbing for a new layout or extra bathroom
- Upgrading electrical and lighting
Coquitlam Renovation Questions
What Coquitlam homeowners usually want to know before a renovation starts.
Do you work on Westwood Plateau and Burke Mountain?
Yes. We renovate across Coquitlam, including the hillside neighbourhoods of Westwood Plateau and Burke Mountain and the older areas near Austin Heights and Maillardville.
Can you update a 1990s Coquitlam house all at once?
Yes, and it is often the better choice. Doing the kitchen, bathrooms, floors and stairs together keeps the finishes consistent and means the house is disrupted once instead of several times.
Can we live in the house during the renovation?
For a single kitchen or bathroom, usually yes, with dust protection and a temporary setup. For a whole interior renovation many families move out for part of the job.
Do I need a permit to renovate my Coquitlam kitchen?
Replacing cabinets and finishes usually does not need one. Removing walls, changing plumbing or adding circuits often does. We check with the City of Coquitlam for your scope.
